On Thursday, June 16, 2011 God called home his angel, Wilma Fain Varner, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.
Mrs. Varner was born in Campobello, SC on June 29, 1921, the daughter of the late Earl Edward and Myrtle Skinner Fain.
She was the widow of Edward Layton Varner and she was a daughter in law of the late Lila Edwards Varner. She retired from Lyman Printing and Finishing after 46 years of service.
She was a member of Inman United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Adult Bible Class, Senior Citizen Class, and Loyalty Circle, served as secretary and treasurer of the Guild 1972-2003, life member of the Guild and United Methodist Women, and served on the Guild Scholarship Committee. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World and a charter member of the Former Homemakers Garden Club. She is survived by a daughter, Angelena Martin of Spartanburg, three sisters, Nancy Durham of Columbus, Vesta Culbreth and her husband, Will Earl of Campobello, Amy Richardson of Moore, a half sister, Sybil Fain of Charlotte, NC, a very special and much loved sister in law, Geraldine Fain of Inman; grandchildren; Cynthia Moss and husband James of Spartanburg, Scarlette Sipple and husband Scott of Summerville, Dr. Kelly Ford and husband Bill of Summerville, Kim Johnson and husband Marvin of Cumming, GA, Kristi Richardson of Summerville; great granddaughters, Chelsea and Jessica Ford and Clara Sipple all of Summerville; and great grandsons, Layton and Luke Boyce of Summerville and Vance and Zachary Johnson of Cumming, GA. She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Gail Wilkes, two sisters, Edith Loftis and Elizabeth Coley Stone, her step mother, Connie Waldrop Fain, and two brothers, Edward Fain and Billy Fain.
Wilma's greatest love in her life was her family. She was raised in a loving, Christian family and she enjoyed telling the many stories of happy days spent on the family farm. Her love and care of family never waivered and she never hesitated to tell anyone how important love was within a family.
Funeral services will be held at Seawright Funeral Chapel, Inman, SC, at 2:00pm on Monday, June 20th, with Rev. Barry Neeley and Rev. Reggie Parker officiating. The family is at the home, 38 Bridges Street, Inman and will receive friends Monday 1:00-2:00 at Seawright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg, SC. Serving as pallbearers will be James Moss, Scott Sipple, Bill Ford, Marvin Johnson, Robbie Fain, and E.W. Loftis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills 130 Forest Glen Drive Columbus, NC 28722.
