Wellford, SC---Mr. William Smith Morris, 84, of 617 Howell Road went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 12th, 2010.
Born in Chesnee, SC on August 5, 1926, the son of the late Jack and Verdie (Cash) Morris and was the loving husband of Mrs. Ola (Dover) Morris having celebrated 65 years of marriage.
He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where he served in the Men's 69 and up Sunday School Class and was formerly employed with Cryovac. He was a member of the Poplar Springs Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star of Reidville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Bennie W. Morris of Wellford; three daughters, Lucille Gosnell and husband Leon of Wellford, Martha Hudson of Greenville, and Alice Sherbert and husband Jimmy of Woodruff; two brothers, Marion Morris of Inman and Bill Morris of Chesnee; four sisters, Mae Painter of Boiling Springs, Maggie Dean Blanton of Chesnee, Rebeccah Blanton of Chesnee and Frances Johnson of Gaffney along with eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 3:30-4:30 PM at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:30PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
