William A "Bill" Moon

William A "Bill" Moon, 83, of 11 C Street, Inman, SC, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Bill was born in Erlanger Mill, NC on March 21, 1932, a son of the late Leander T. and Lois (Powell) Moon. He was the husband of Peggy (Irvin) Moon, was a basketball coach at Landrum Middle School and retired from teaching after 31 years at Landrum High School.
He was a member of Inman Mills Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school, served as deacon and was a member of the Accounting Committee. He was a member of the National Education Association and the South Carolina Education Association, served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, and was a member of the Inman American Legion Post #45.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Susan Moon and Sherry Moon, two sons Ricky Moon and his wife Ruth, William Scott Moon and his wife Maryann, two brothers, Joe Moon and Maxie L Moon, all of Inman, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The family is at the home and will receive friends Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at Inman Mills Baptist Church. Funeral Services will follow at 4:00 PM in the church with Rev. Jack Hames officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Greer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund of Inman Mills Baptist Church.
