William Clarence "Bill" McDowell

William Clarence "Bill" McDowell, 81, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away on May 27, 2026 at his home.

Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on September 22, 1944, he was a son of the late Julia Eubanks McDowell and Clarence William McDowell, and was the husband of Constance Anthony McDowell, of the home.

He was a 1963 graduate of Spartanburg High School and he served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Bill had worked at CF Services, Hoechst Celanese, and was a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Care Sunday School Class.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Katherine M. Bagwell, and her husband Ray, and Julie M. Lancaster; and three grandchildren, Nathan Bagwell, Emily Grace Coats, and her husband Ethan, and William Lancaster.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by two brothers, Donald K. McDowell and Michael E. McDowell.

A graveside service will be held at Westwood Memorial Gardens in Moore, Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Danny Garrett and Mr. Ethan Coats officiating. The family is at the home, and will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
