Spartanburg, SC--Mr. Boyd Johnson, 79, of 374 Carleton Circle Spartanburg died Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Johnson was born in Inman on December 19, 1931, the son of the late Wade Hampton and Mary Elizabeth Thompson Johnson. He received his A.B. in economics at Wofford College and was a member of Roebuck Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson was Superintendent of No.2 Plant in Forsyth, Ga and had formerly been with Dan River Mills, Deering Milliken, was the previous President and CEO of Futura Manufacturing Company in Ware Shoals, and former general manager of Color Spectrum in Dalton, Ga. He had also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Joyce Cothran Johnson of the home, two daughters, Pamela D. Johnson of Inman, Trina Johnson Stapleton of Woodruff, a grandson, Steven Bosler and a granddaughter, Sarah Bosler, both of Woodruff, a sister in law, Betty Johnson of Inman and his nephews, Roger, Randy, and Eddie Johnson. He was predeceased by a brother, Jerome Johnson.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 8 at 3:00 PM at Roebuck Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Tim Williams. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman. The family will be at the home and receive friends Saturday from 2:00 until 3:00 at the church prior to the service. He will be greatly missed by his golf buddies and his West Gate Mall walking friends.
