WILLIAM RAY HENDRIX


Mr. W. Ray Hendrix of 202 Bryson Drive, Boiling Springs, SC went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 28, 2009 from Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 73.
Born in Woodruff, SC on May 4, 1936, he was a son of the late William Chester and Mattie Lee Hendrix Minor. He was the loving and faithful husband of Miriam Dotson and the loving father of Lane, Michael and Ritch.
Mr. Hendrix served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 - 1959. After his tour of duty, he worked with Spartanburg Steel (formerly Firestone) until his retirement. He was also a lifelong "Gamecock" fan.
A faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Inman, SC, he loved the Lord and his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. He served as a deacon for many years.
Mr. Hendrix was the sixth of seven children and was predeceased by brothers Jack and Hubert, and sister Juanita Fowler.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons and their wives; Lane and Kim of Inman, Mike and Carolyn of Boiling Springs and Ritch and Crystal of Boiling Springs; six grandchildren: Brandon, Brittany, Justin, Dalton, Jarrett and Kristen. He also leaves behind siblings Frankie Proffitt, Virginia Jackson, and Rev. Earl Hendrix.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 7:30pm at First Free Will Baptist Church, 90 Blackstock Road, Inman, on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. A memorial service will follow at 7:30 p.m.
The family will be at 202 Bryson Drive, Boiling Springs, SC. Memorials may be made to the Andy & Andrea Moore Vision Fund, 90 Blackstock Road, Inman, SC 29349.
