William Cecil Davis

William Cecil Davis, 83, of Highway 11, Campobello, passed away Tuesday, January 17th, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Cecil was born in Inman on May 9, 1933, a son of the late Charles William and Ruby George Davis and was the widower of Janice Jackson Davis. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Army. Cecil retired from Southern Railway at Southern Shops and later retired from Flowers Bakery in Spartanburg. An ordained Baptist minister, Cecil attended Fruitland Bible College and between 1974-78 he was the pastor at Tuckasegee Baptist Church in Tuckasegee, NC and Jarrett Memorial Baptist Church in Dillsboro, NC. He is survived by a son and his wife, Rick and Cathy Davis of Boiling Springs; a daughter and her husband, Karen and Joey Suddeth of Chesnee; a brother in law, Dean Jackson of Inman; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Teresa Davis and three sisters, Betty Justice, Sarah Brannon, and Linda Toney. The family is at the home of Karen and Joey Suddeth, 122 Scenic View Dr., Chesnee and will receive friends Friday following the service in the church sanctuary. A graveside service will be held at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev. Matthew Bishop.
