William Marshall Brown, 88, of 7 N. Humphrey St. died Friday, June 5th, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Brown was born in Inman, S.C. on September 28, 1920, the son of the late Thomas Moore and Pearl (Morgan) Brown. He was married to Doris (Anderson) Brown for 62 years and had worked as a General Contractor for 60 years. He served on the Inman City Council for 17 years and was the Mayor of Inman for 8 years He was a longtime member of Inman First Baptist Church and was a member of the Winsome Sunday School Class. He was a graduate of Inman High School, Spartanburg Jr. College and U.S.C. He served in the U.S. Navy in WW II, was a member of the American Legion Post # 45, Inman Masonic Lodge #201, the Hejaz Shrine Temple and was a Licensed Pilot.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. William T. Brown and his wife Valerie of Johnson City, TN., Randy Brown and his wife Kay of Boiling Springs, S. C., and Jimmy Brown and wife Teresa of Inman., a sister, Doris Brown Wilkins of Inman, three granddaughters, Doris Sierra Street and her husband Adam of Johnson City, TN., and Alyson and Emily Brown of Inman, Mr. Brown was predeceased by a sister, Bessie Brown Thornton and a brother, Judge Harold Brown.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM. at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman. Funeral services will be held at Inman First Baptist Church, 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 7, 2009 with Dr. Paul Moore officiating. The Winsome Sunday School Class is to serve as Honorary Escort.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.
