William Ralph Boone

William Ralph Boone, Ph.D.,D.C., 68,of 120 South Lake Emory Dr. died unexpectedly Sunday, November 21st,2010 at his residence. Dr. Boone was born in Hopewell, Virginia on October 6, 1942, the son of the late Charles Harvey "Jake" Boone and Iva Rae(Mosley) Boone. He is survived by his wife Bonnie Susan (Boswell) Boone. Dr. Boone was a man of faith and attained many accomplishments during his lifetime. Dr. Boone graduated from the College of William and Mary with a B. S. in Biology in 1966, the University of Richmond, M.S. in Biology in 1968, Ph.D in Biology from USC Columbia, SC in 1974, and Chiropractic D.C. from Sherman College of Chiropractic in 1990. Dr. Boone was also a Licensed Chiropractor in SC, Registered Chiropractor in Victoria, Australia and in New Zealand, from 1974-77, he was an Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina, from 1980 to 1990, he was Director of Research and Computer Resources, Professor at Sherman Chiropractic College in Spartanburg, SC, from 1990-94 he was President of Southern California College of Chiropractic, 1996-98 Docent instructor in cell biology and human anatomy at Irvine Valley College, Irvine, Ca., 1996-2000, Editor, Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research, 1998-2000 Acting Head of School, New Zealand College of Chiropractic, Auckland, New Zealand and Director of Research there, 2002-2004 Director of Research, Association of Network Care. And from 2004 to 2010 he was Director of Research at Sherman Chiropractic College, Spartanburg, SC. His accreditation experience included 1990 Site visitor for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, 1991-1995 President, Straight Chiropractic Academic Standards Association, and was awarded a Post-Doctoral Fellowship for study at the Leon Fredericq Institute, University of Liege, Belgium from 1977-78 and was awarded a visiting researcher grant for study at the Marine Station of Endoume, Marseilles, France, was Moderator for the Proceedings of the International Straight Chiropractic Consensus Conference in Chandler, Az in 1992, member New Zealand Chiropractor's Association and Editor, Emeritus, Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research. Surviving in addition to his wife Bonnie is his son, Christopher Charles Boone and his wife Marijana of Portland, Oregon, a daughter, Catherine Lanier Boone of Spartanburg, SC , a brother, Charles Ray Boone and his wife Lillian of Prattville, Ala., two grandchildren, Kai Porter Boone and Maya Claire-Sequoia Boone, his step son, Donald Joseph Glisson, II. and a step daughter Lydia Nicolle Glisson both of Colonial Hgts, Va. and the mother of Christopher and Catherine Boone, Mary Lou Chipley-Boone of Spartanburg, SC. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301. The family is at the home in Inman, S.C.
