Mrs. Virginia Harley Smith, 92, of 421 Hannon Road Inman died Tuesday, September 18th, 2007 at NHC in Greer. Mrs. Smith was born in Inman, S.C. on May 9, 1915 and the daughter of the late Broadus and Sallie Bruce Harley.
She was the widow of Alfred Raymond Smith.
She was survived by three sisters, Kathryn Harley Belmont and Cornelia Harley Greshem both of Spartanburg and Thelma Harley Duncan of Greenville, one brother in law, Clifford M. Walden of Landrum and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Willie Harley Crim, Mary Harley Culbreth, Florence Harley Kitchens, Ruth Harley Walden, and one brother, Broadus Harley, Jr.
She was a very active member of Holly Springs Baptist Church where she was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class and served on the Historical Commission of the church. She donated to the church, the Mary Harley Memorial Park that has been used for years for weddings and other community activities. She was a very active member of D.A.R.
Graveside services will be held today, September 20 at 2:00pm in Holly Springs Baptist Church cemetery conducted by Rev. Tim Clark. The family will receive friends today 1:30 until 2:00 at the graveside.
