Virginia Higgins Harris, 96, of 907 Hampton Rd. went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, July 5th, 2017 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, SC. Mrs. Harris was born in Yancey County, NC on February 14, 1921 and was a daughter of the late Charlie Lee and Myrtle Byrd Higgins. She was the widow of the late Thelmer Harris and was formerly a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. She is now a member of Lake Bowen Baptist Church and the Cleo Graves Sunday School Class.
She is survived by three sons: Rothy Harris of Rutherfordton, NC, James Harris and his wife Marilyn of Inman, SC, Troy Harris of Spartanburg, SC, two daughters: Jo Ann Quinn and her husband Curtis of Campobello, SC, Hazel Gwinn and her husband Billy of Lyman, SC, two sisters: Earlene Smith of Spartanburg, SC and Gladys Cox of Inman, SC. There are 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at Seawright Funeral Home, Inman, SC. Funeral services will be held at Lake Bowen Baptist Church at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 7th, 2017 with Dr. Roland Dry, Jr. and Rev. Eddie Cooper officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be: Russell and David Quinn, Brent, Bryan and Jeffery Harris and Mike Gwinn. The Honorary Escort will be great-grandsons: Jordan Gwinn, Bradley, Camden, & Morgan Harris, Jordan, Travis, & Michael Quinn, Matthew Hammett, Nicholas & Brent Cook and Taylor McAbee. Interment will be in Lake Bowen Baptist Church Cemetery, Inman, SC. The family will be at the home.
