Tommy Cecil Tillotson

Spartanburg, SC---Tommy Cecil Tillotson, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Fairforest, SC on October 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Tom and Clara (Bagwell) Tilltoson. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Marianne Tillotson. They were married on December 18, 1953 and were about to celebrate their 53rd wedding anniversary when she passed away on August 13, 2006. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Neuwildflecken, Germany. He retired from Spartanburg Steel where he worked as a shipping clerk. Mr. Tillotson attended Poplar Springs Baptist Church and was a volunteer with Doctors Memorial and with Spartanburg Regional Medical Center from 1991 until 2011. He thoroughly enjoyed his "Job". He is survived by a daughter, Karin Ivester; two grandsons, Brandon Tommy Ayers and Taylor Ryan Ayers and two sisters, Thelma Easler and Geraldine Suttles all of Spartanburg; a sister-in-law, Martha Chatel and her husband Frank of Woodside, NY; two grandcats, Socks and Panther; and a special friend, Nancy Martin. Three brothers and three sisters predeceased him. A private cremation memorial service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family would like to express a very special thank you to the entire staff of the CCU Unit at the Spartanburg Regional Heart Center for the excellent care given to Mr. Tillotson.
