Inman, SC--- Thomas Joseph Chester Jr. 72, of 9081 Hwy. 9 Inman, SC, passed away Monday, November 26, 2012.
Born on October 19, 1940 in Elizabeth, NJ he was the son of the late Thomas J. Chester and Helen (Richey) Chester.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Burns Chester of the home, his first wife, Barbara P. Chester, two daughters, Ann Chester Terrell (Tracy), Jennifer Chester Evington (Fred) and son Thomas J. Chester III (Susan) and four grandchildren, Clayton Chester, Morgan Chester, Mary Evington and Alexis Terrell.
He also leaves behind his Beloved Horse "Hard to be Humble" and Cairn Terrier, Robby. Tom was a member of Inman United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Upsala College. He worked as a Claims Superintendent with State Farm for 36 years. Tom was active in Equestrian Competition and was the Past President of the Blue Ridge Hunter Jumper Association. While serving as president he was instrumental in saving Harmon Field in Tryon, NC for Equestrian use.
He enjoyed boating and working on his farm in New Prospect. Tom loved to play, horses, boats, motorcycles and sports cars. He had many toys.
Visitation for the family will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 11:00 AM until12 Noon at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman. Funeral services will follow in the Seawright Funeral Chapel at 12 Noon with Rev. Ron Leonard officiating and speakers Terry Sturgill and Robyn Davis. Interment will follow the service in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.
