Therese Marie Ann Stynosky Gordon
Spartanburg, SC

Therese "Terry" Gordon was a wonderful wife and mother who loved life, her family and friends. She was born and raised n Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of the late Mae Zahutta Urban and George T. Stynosky. As a young girl, she worked the soda fountain at Woolworth's Drug Store. Terry moved to Pinnacle, North Carolina after meeting her husband James Calvin Gordon. There they owned and operated a dairy farm and laundromat. Since she did not like milking cows, she began working as a legal secretary until her first daughter, Cynthia Marie was born and then daughter, Julie Ann, nine years later. She devoted over twenty years to raising her children and making a happy home. Later in life, Terry was a Site Manager for the Spartanburg Counsel on Aging for many years. She enjoyed spending time with extended family and friends and planning annual trips to Ocracoke Island, North Carolina. She loved to cook and made fantastic scratch biscuits. Terry was a devoted wife and selfless caregiver to her husband of fifty years, after he suffered a debilitating stroke. She loved her two grandchildren very much and was always there to help when needed - which was quite often. Terry was a grand lady and will be sorely missed.
Terry is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Marie Ann Garren and her husband, David K. Garren, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Julie Ann Gordon and Life Partner, Brad Johnson of Salisbury, Massachusetts; a granddaughter, Lauren Ann Kaiser of Cockeysville, Maryland; a grandson, Jared Gordon Kaiser of Amesbury, Massachusetts;
She is also survived by four nephews, Darrell Herschler and wife, Marcia, of Kentucky; Scott Herschler of Chicago, Illinois; Lee Gordon of Washington, D.C.; Reese Gordon of Greensboro, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Rachel Blevins of Atlanta, Georgia; three nieces, Lisa Blevins of Atlanta, Georgia; Susan Fulton of Winston Salem, North Carolina; Sharon Penley of Greensboro, North Carolina; along with several great nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Ann Johnston of Charleston, South Carolina.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Gordon was predeceased by a brother, George Stynosky and a sister, Alyce Herschler.
Thank you to all the staff at Woodland Place in Spartanburg and Agape Hospice for the loving care and attention given. You gave her dignity in her final years.
Mrs. Gordon will be laid to rest beside her husband, at 11:30 AM, Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Pinnacle United Methodist Church Cemetery in North Carolina.
