Rev. T J Horton, 96, a native of Spartanburg County peacefully enterd his new home on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Ashlan Village in Lyman, SC. Rev Horton was born on December 22, 1917, a son of the late Emma and Cicero Horton and was the widower of Lois Collins Horton. He is survived by five daughters, Peggy Loftis, Gail Auble, Judy Tripp, Sheila Bagshaw all of Campobello, Carolyn Maupin, of Landrum, 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Larry Horton. Rev Horton was a Baptist Minister having served numerous churches in Florida and South Carolina. He was a member of Little Mtn. Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army in WW II. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Little Mtn. Baptist Church, Wellford, SC. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Ansel Norris and Rev Harold King officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Journey Hospice, 351 Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301 or Little Mtn Baptist Church, 1302 Little Mtn. Road, Wellford, SC 29385.
