Sybil Pruitt Brown passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home after years of declining health. Born in Spartanburg on January 27, 1937, Sybil was the widow of Dean Brown and mother to her deceased son, Jeff Brown. She was the daughter of the late Isaac and Sue Pruitt and was preceded in death by her brothers, Alfred, Albert, and Charles Pruitt.

Sybil was a graduate of Spartanburg High School. She was a gifted homemaker and secretary/bookkeeper who served her home, employers, and community well. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and always enjoyed her Sunday School class and the Joy Club. The family is grateful for their faithful friendship and support for many years.

Survivors include her son, Ted Brown (Rachel) and two daughters, Cindy Cantrell (Dwayne) and Amy Jolley (Joey). She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and their spouses: Seth & Casey Cantrell Breitenbach, Marcus & Emory Cantrell, Aaron & Katie Jolley, Adam Jolley, and Chris & Jennifer Brown Bush. Sybil adored her great grandchildren: Amy Rae and Cody Breitenbach, Jackson and Sam Jolley, Camden and Reece Bush, and Hollis and Dane Cantrell.

 A very special thank you to the staff and friends at Eden Terrace, especially Cassey, Monica, Skylar, Priscilla, and Jackie. You brightened her world for the past 4 months!

Funeral services will be held at New Prospect Baptist Church at 11am on Friday, September 13, 2024 conducted by Sybil’s nephew, the Reverend Bruce Brown and Reverend Jack Pattillo. Family will have a private burial.
