The Rev. Stephen Howard Dyar, Sr., 52, of 1770 Hannon Road went to be with the Lord, Friday, July 20th, 2007 at M.U.S. C. in Charleston, S. C.
He was born in Kannapolis, N. C.and was the son of the Rev. Thomas Edward Dyar of Greenville, S. C. and the late Edith Fowler Dyar.
He was the husband of Susan (Metcalf) Dyar and was a member of Anderson Mill Rd. Baptist Church in Spartanburg, S. C. He served as minister of music in churches in North and South Carolina; his longest tenure being at Wellford Baptist Church for 16 years. He most recently served at Anderson Mill Rd. Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. Stephen Dyar, Jr. and his wife Laura of Charlotte, N. C., Sterling Dyar of Inman and his fiance' Heather Ponder of Hartsville, S. C., three brothers, Tom Dyar of Mauldin, S. C. , Bill Dyar of Greenville, S.C. and Rick Dyar of Easley, S. C. He was predeceased by a sister, Teresa Dyar Hall.
Funeral services will be held at Wellford Baptist Church at 2:00 P. M. on Monday, July 23rd, with the Rev. John Moore, Dr. Allen McWhite and Dr. Christian Hall conducting the service. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman, S. C.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Sunday 7-9 PM. at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, S. C.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society, 154 Mile Stone Way, Greenville, S. C. 29615 or to the Music Ministry of Anderson Mill Rd. Baptist Church or Wellford Baptist Church.
