 Stephen “Steve” Barnwell, 70, of Campobello, South Carolina, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Born in Hendersonville, North Carolina on March 11, 1954, to the late Mae and Ray Barnwell. Steve was proceeded in death by his wife Nancy Lamb Barnwell. He is survived by his children Stephanie Barnwell, Stephen “Travis” Barnwell (Adrienne), Gina Cassel-Coody (Tim), and Jennifer Cassel, his grandchildren Stephen “Kain” Barnwell, Alex Talmadge (Michael), Owen Coody, Richard Coody, Claire Elise Coody, Ryan Davidson, Joshua Powell, and grand child Aetheria Talmadge. He is also survived by 6 siblings and their spouses: Larry & Lavada Barnwell, Sam & Brenda Barnwell, Carey & Judy Barnwell, Wanda & Pete Littlefield, David & Nessie Barnwell, Shelia & Danny Foster. 

Steve was a graduate of Landrum High School, class of 1972. He spent many years working in the peach industry and driving a tractor trailer before finishing his career at Mascot Homes. He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church where he spent time serving as a Deacon. He loved his dog, Harley, and enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and travel. 

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Kathy DuMarco and Richard Miller with Agape Hospice for the care they provided Steve and family during his final days.  

A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church in Campobello, SC. Services will be lead by Reverand Alex Kingsbury. The family will have a private ceremony to spread Steve’s ashes following the ceremony.
