Bernadine West Hammett
Sophia Bernadine West Hammett, 78, of 12 Wofford St. passed away Thursday, December 13th, 2007 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mrs. Hammett was born in Spartanburg, on January 17, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Geddes and Nannie (Kinnett) West. She was the widow of Earl R. Hammett.
She was a member of Inman First Baptist Church, the Fidelis Matron Sunday School Class and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Hammett of Columbia, S.C., Ann Shaw and her husband Joel of Greenville, S.C., two sons, Tommy Hammett and his wife Sara of Inman, Billy Hammett of Greensboro, N.C. and a brother Earl West of Camden, Delaware.There are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Tom West and a sister, Carrie Vaughn.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 16,2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Inman First Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Paul Moore and Joel Shaw. The Fidelis Matron Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escort. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman. The family is at the home and will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman.
