Sonja Gail Lindsey Kirby, 70, of 346 Dakota Street in Spartanburg, passed away Tuesday, September 21st, at Regional Hospice Home.

Sonja was born in Spartanburg on April 13, 1951, a daughter and only child of James and Evelyn Fuller Lindsey. She was the widow of Ronald Eugene "Ronnie" Kirby, who after 54 years of marriage very recently predeceased her. She was retired from JM Smith Corporation in Spartanburg.
She is survived by two sons; Jamie Kirby and his wife, Suzie, of Boiling Springs, Jeff Kirby of Spartanburg, a daughter; Donna Hopkins and her husband, Wendall, of Lyman, and six grandchildren; Steven Howell, Aaron Howell, Christy Kirby, Caitlin Kirby, Hayden Kirby, and Tanner Kirby.
Her funeral service will be held 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 23rd at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman with Dr. Paul Moore officiating. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
Private burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gibbs Cancer Center 101 E. Wood Street Spartanburg, SC 29303.
