Shuford Mayfield Brown, Jr.

Shuford Mayfield Brown, Jr. 78, of Inman, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2026, at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, South Carolina.

Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on October 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Margaret Christine (Howell) Brown and Shuford Mayfield Brown, Sr. He was married to Ruth Morrow Brown for 56 years.

Mayfield owned and operated Brown’s Body Shop in Holly Springs, SC as well as provided wrecker service for much of the Upstate. Known for his ability to repair anything, Mayfield would fix anything from cars and machinery to plumbing and heating. There are very few people that he hasn’t helped with some type of project over the years.

He is survived by a sister, Sue Sellars, two sons, Bruce Brown (Allison), and Morris Brown (Rachel) and four grandchildren, Lottie Brown, Lila Brown, Rosie Brown and Stella Brown.

He was predeceased by a sister, Alice Brown and twin grandchildren Robert and Scarlett Brown.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Inman, South Carolina with Rev. Ben Whitmire officiating.

Family will receive friends and family after the service at the home of his son and daughter in law, Morris and Rachel until 5:30PM - 396 Motlow School Rd. Campobello, SC 29322.
