Shirley Jean Roach Barnes, 79, of Campobello, South Carolina, passed away after a short illness on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Shirley was born in Supply, North Carolina on November 8, 1938, a daughter of the late Marshall McRoy Roach and Lillie Mae Bradscher Roach. She was an avid gardener, cook and baker, who shared her passion with both family and friends. Shirley was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, a retired employee with Wells Fargo and an active member of the Silver Sneakers Club. Mrs. Barnes along with her husband donated their time to Meals on Wheels and was always available to help elderly neighbors and friends in the surrounding area. In her leisure time, she enjoyed puzzles, her grandchildren and her dog, Susie and watching the Boston Celtics basketball games.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by her loving husband of forty three years, Jimmy Barnes, of the residence; a daughter, Carolynn Cullen and her husband, Tom of Greer, South Carolina; two sons Tony Barnes and his wife, Gina of Belews Creek, North Carolina; Brad Barnes and his wife, Elissa of Taylors, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Justin Barnes of Lafayette, Louisiana; Brandon Barnes and his wife, Tonia, of Oak Level, Virginia; Lindsey Barnes of Greenville, South Carolina and Wren Barnes of Taylors, South Carolina; two sisters, Victoria Phelps, of Roxboro, North Carolina; Betty Brookshire and her husband, Atwell of Wilmington, North Carolina; a brother, Gene Roach and his wife, Eunice of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018, from 1:00 PM - 1:45 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at Seawright Funeral Chapel, at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 18, 2018, conducted by Rev. Mitch Crow and Pastor Vivian D. Watts. Burial will follow at Shiloh Memorial Cemetery, Inman, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 2151, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-2151.
