Sandra K. "Sandi" Self

Sandra Kay (Sandi) Self, 53 born April 15, 1959 Inman, SC. Died March 16, 2013 at 2:10AM at the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum, SC after bravely battling cancer. She was surrounded by friends and family as she met her Lord and Savior.
Born in Tryon, North Carolina to Betty McCarter and the late H.T. Self, Sandi grew up with a brother, Carroll Eugene Self, whom she adored in the Holston Creek Community.
She was a graduate of Chapman High School, studied at North Greenville University and graduated from Gardner Webb University. Sandi graduated from Southeastern Seminary with a Master's of Divinity degree and followed her calling into Youth and Children's Ministry.
Sandi served at First Baptist Church, Sanford, NC as Youth and Children's Minister, at Southside Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC as Children's Minister, and Lexington Baptist Church, Lexington, SC as Children's Minister. Her career ministry was full of leading people to the Lord and helping families center Christ in their homes. Her passions involved leading children as she traveled to Guatemala and through all of the church camps, summer programs locally and statewide, and her sweet Girls in Action missions education program. Sandi saw the needs of others as her personal mission. American Sign Language was as natural to Sandi as breathing.
Sandi moved back to Inman where she and daughter Tollison (Tolli) Elizabeth Li Self made their home. Sandi's joy was her sweet China doll, Tolli, whom she adopted in 2002. Sandi's life was centered around her family which was made complete by Tolli. They adored God's creation of the beach together.
Furthering the gospel, Sandi was a minister, writer, communicator, musician and a friend to everyone. Her life verse from God's word was Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Sandi is survived by her daughter Tollison (Tolli) Elizabeth Li Self, her mother Betty McCarter Self, her brother Carroll Eugene Self all of Inman, SC. She was predeceased by her father H.T. Self (2000) and her grandparents Jim and Ellen McCarter, and Vernon and Irene Self.
Visitation will be Sunday March 17, 2013 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Seawright Funeral Home, 26 E. Main Street, Inman SC, 29349. Celebration of Life will be on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 4:00pm at Holston Creek Baptist Church, 311 Holston Creek Church Road Inman, SC 29349 with pastors Dr. Reggie Parker, Rev. Alan Mc White, and Rev. David Blanton. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Inman.
Pallbearers: Chad Griffin, Joel Abernathy, Dale Sutton, Andy Jung, Tom Stackhouse, Lee Foster.
