Sally Lynn Brooks Hershberger, 63, of 2928 Redland Road, Campobello, SC, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum. Sally was born in Normal, IL on September 2, 1951, a daughter of the late Robert and Gerry (Rayburn) Brooks. She was the wife of Edward F. Hershberger and was formerly employed at Snyder Insurance Company.
She was a member of Gramling United Methodist Church where she was a prominent member of the church choir and the Upper Room Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Tryon Arts and Crafts Community and the DAR.
In addition to her husband, Sally is survived by a daughter, Hattie Carmen (Steve), of Kirkwood, MO; a sister, Susan Honodel, of Colorado Springs, CO., a brother, Robert Brooks (Karen), of Bloomington, IL; one grandson, Phillip Carmen and one granddaughter, Gretchen Carmen.
Funeral services will be held at Gramling United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 4:00 PM with Pastor Rebecca Wilkins and Pastor Ann Hastings-Kafer officiating. The body will lay in state in the sanctuary one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be held in the church social hall immediately following the service.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 27, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Towanda American Legion, 207 Hely Street, Towanda, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to one of the following: Gramling United Methodist Church Choir Fund, PO Box 58 Gramling, SC 29348 or Tryon Arts and Crafts, 373 Harmon Field Rd., Tryon, NC 28782 or Wind River Cancer Wellness Retreats and Programs, 430 Larsen Lane, Tryon, NC 28782, Attn: Contributions.
