Mr. Russell A. McBride, 82, of Maywood Street, Spartanburg died Saturday, October 8th, 2011 at Camp Care Nursing Home in Inman.
Mr. McBride was born in Spartanburg County on July 19,1929, the son of the late A.F. and Emmie Simmons McBride.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Towery McBride of the home and his three daughters; Donna McBride Snelgrove (Don), Deborah McBride Kane (Charles) and Dee McBride James (Brian); five grandchildren; Ben McBride Snelgrove of Atlanta, Bo Snelgrove of Campobello, Lily McBride West, Margaret McBride West, and Kathleen McBride West of Landrum; a brother, Arthur McBride and a nephew James Stone. He was predeceased by a sister, Elsie Stone and his son, David Russell McBride.
He was a 1953 graduate of Wofford College and was a retired purchasing agent at Spartan Mills and Mayfair Mills. He retired from the S.C. National Guard as a captain.
Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 11th, conducted by Chaplain Dean Elliott.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills 130 Forest Glen Drive Columbus, NC 28722 or Mobile Meals PO Box 461 Spartanburg, SC 29304.
