Rule Cannon Trout

Rule Cannon Trout, 86, of 1 Brookwood Drive went home to be with his Lord on July 22, 2011 at the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum, SC.
He was born in Spartanburg County on December 16, 1924 to the late William and Gladys Sims Trout. He was the loving husband of Sara McMillin Trout and they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Trout was a member of Inman First Baptist Church for over 50 years. He attended Wofford College before being drafted into the United States Navy where he served as a pharmacist mate during World War II. He participated in D-Day during the invasion of Normandy in 1944. He was a retired co-owner of Wilkins-McMillin Lumber Company. He was a member of the Inman Masonic Lodge and American Legion Post #45. He enjoyed gardening, watching the Atlanta Braves, and helping other people. He was a devoted friend to many people.
Surviving in addition to his wife are, his sons, Steve Trout of the home, Sam Trout and wife Karen, and Phil Trout all of Inman; a daughter, Alice Trout Johnson and husband Mack of Asheboro, NC. He was a very special Granddaddy to five grandchildren, the Rev. Jeff Johnson and his wife Lana of Franklinville, NC, Rebecca Johnson Crank and her husband David of Greensboro, NC, and Lauren Trout, Brady Trout, and Brenna Trout all of Inman, SC. Rule was very blessed to have four Great Grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, and Selah Crank of Greensboro, NC and Emory Johnson of Franklinville, NC. He is also survived by an aunt, Sara Sims Wheatley of Arcadia, SC.
Visitation will be held in the atrium of Inman First Baptist Church from 2:30 until 4:00pm Sunday, July 24, 2011. Services will follow the visitation at 4:00pm with the Rev. Jeff Johnson, the Rev. Jeremiah Childers, and the Rev. Tom LeGrand officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. Pallbearers will be Jeff Guest, Joey McMillin, Harry McMillin, Danny McDowell, Herman Whitaker Jr., and Arvil Hester.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Inman First Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Inman First Baptist Church, 14 North Howard Street, Inman, SC 29349 or to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722. The family is at the residence.
