Rufus Woodrow "Woody" Settle, II, 63, of 491 Old Settle Road, Inman, SC, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 at his residence.
Woody was born in Spartanburg, SC on October 21, 1950, a son of Jean (Quinn) Settle, of Inman and the late Rufus Woodrow Settle. He was a native of Inman and was the husband of Brenda M. Settle.
He was employed from August 1991 until his retirement on December 1, 2012 at GE Power Systems as a configuration manager. He was a member of Inman First Baptist Church. Mr Settle was a Master Mason with St John's Lodge No. 333 where he served as Past Master, Worshipful Patron in the Eastern Star, DeMolay Advisor, Rainbow Girls Advisor, a member of the Knights Templar - Spartanburg Commandery No 3, The Philalethes Society, Piedmont York Rite college No. 84, Knight Masons SC Council No. 20, Scottish Rite and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Brig Gen Samuel McGowan Camp # 40. He was also a horse lover.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons Patrick Settle and wife Mary Helen and their daughter Mary Quinn of Inman; Christopher Settle and wife Rachel of Piedmont, a sister, Mary Jean Deal and husband Scott of Anderson; a brother, Dennis Settle and wife Charlene of Spartanburg, 4 nieces and 1 nephew. He was predeceased by twin sons, Raymond Benjamin Settle and Jonathan Alan Settle
The family is at the home and will receive friends Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Inman First Baptist Church Atrium.
Funeral services will be held at Inman First Baptist Church, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 2nd, with Dr. Paul Moore officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be David Settle, Jr, Harris Settle, Ben Settle, Jerry Raines, Dean Spake and Rudy Hall. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
In addition to flowers memorials may be made to Inman First Baptist Church Building Fund, 14 N. Howard Street Inman, SC 29349.
