Spartanburg, SC---Mr. Roy Dean Whiteside, 69, of 152 South Blackstock Rd. passed away Friday, December 11th, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Polk County, NC on June 29, 1940, he was the son of the late Roy Whiteside and Leona W. Edwards who survives him of Spartanburg and was the husband of the late Patricia (Skinner) Whiteside.
Mr. Whiteside was a graduate of the Landrum High School Class of 1960, a member of the Landrum First Baptist Church and was the owner of Deans Sheet metal and Fabrication in Spartanburg.
In addition to his mother he is survived by a daughter, Lori Hirsch and her husband Michael; two granddaughters, Taylor Ann Hirsch and Lauren Alexa Hirsch and one grandson, Ryan Dean Whiteside all of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Clyde Edwards and a son, Jeffery Dean Whiteside.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 15, 2009 from 6-8PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in the Seawright Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, December 16th with Rev. Joe Dempsey officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman. The family will be at the home of his mother, 152 South Blackstock Rd. Spartanburg.
