Roy "RJ" Rhymer

Roy “RJ” Rhymer, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on November 15, 2025. He was the son of Jessie Owens, and the stepson of Schyuler Owens. Roy was preceded in death by his father Dean Rhymer and two brothers, Jerry and Nathan Rhymer. He is survived by his sister, Christel Owens, three uncles, one aunt, many cousins, and a wide circle of close friends who cherished him deeply.

Roy was a devoted uncle to Chelsey, Nicole (Drew), Cheyenne (Jason) Jerred (Kristin) Jamie (Jonathan) and many others that called him Uncle Roy. He also leaves behind eight great-nieces and three great-nephews, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.

A lover of the outdoors, Roy found peace on hiking trails and in nature. Drawing was his quiet refuge—a space where he poured his heart into every stroke. He was an avid music enthusiast - he loved some Lynyrd Skynyrd and was a dedicated Redskins fan, always ready to cheer on his team.

Roy had a gift with children and served as a surrogate father and Uncle Roy to many of the kids who grew up around him, often saying with a smile, “Hand me a baby.” His love for “his girls” was limitless, and he would do anything for the children or family in his life including his bonus family the Baker and Harris crew. Roy shared a particularly special bond with his eldest niece, Chelsey, and her daughters, Lily and Sophia, who held a unique place in his heart and whom he helped raise.
