Campobello, SC---Reverend Ronald L. Taylor passed from this world on Thursday, May 14, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Viola Taylor, his son, Mark Taylor and his stepson Eric Lanier. He is survived by a son Michael Taylor and is wife Lalia; a daughter, Michelle Taylor Strawn and her husband Richie; a stepson, Jon Lanier; a stepdaughter, Meredith Lanier Honeycutt and husband Brian; five grandsons and three granddaughters and four great granddaughters and one sister, Bonnie Lowe of Milford, Ohio.
Reverend Taylor was ordained by Westside Baptist Church. Ministry Pastorates include Fairmont Baptist Church of Spartanburg, First Baptist Church of Teral Oklahoma, Judson Baptist Church in Greenville, SC, Morningside Presbyterian Church in Camden, SC. Reverend Taylor served as Chaplain for the Greenville County Detention Center and part time at Greenville Memorial Hospital. He also served in the U.S Army as a specialist.
He graduated from North Greenville College, graduate member of Phi Theta Kappa; Gardner Webb University of Boiling Springs, NC; Post graduate degrees include Master of Divinity of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary of Ft. Worth Texas, Doctorate of Ministry of Erskine Seminary in Due West, SC. Reverend Taylor completed a basic unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Greenville Memorial Hospital; one year clinical residency at the Academy for Pastoral Education S.C. Department of Mental Health. He became a staff Chaplain at Crafts Farrow State Hospital and S.C. State Hospital where he served clients and staff for 23 years until he retired in 2005. Reverend Taylor continued to serve as stated supply pastor of Morningside Presbyterian Church and member of Providence Presbytery of Rock Hill, SC.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM on Sunday, May 17, 2015 in the Seawright Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Blanchester IOOF Cemetery in Ohio on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM.
The family is at the home of his son, Michael Taylor, 139 Spartanburg Road, Startex, SC.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Morningside Presbyterian Church, Camden, SC; Camden Community Ministries, Camden, SC or the Gideons Bible Society.
