Startex, SC---Mr. Robin Erlic West, 55, of 5 Chestnut St passed away on Sunday, June 19th, 2011. Born in Greenville, S.C. on September 10, 1955, he was the son of the late Jesse Ernest and Jo Elizabeth "Polly" (Gresham) West. He was the loving husband of Mrs. Melba (Ramsey) West having celebrated 35 beautiful years of marriage.
Robin was the assistant chief with the Startex Fire Department for 35 years, worked as an inventory control manager at Agilysys in Taylors and was a member of Lyman United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, Melba he is survived by one son, Joshua West and his wife Leigh of Startex; one daughter, Jessi W. Hill and her husband Johnathan of Lyman; two grandsons, Noah Hill and Tucker Hill and one granddaughter, Kendall West; one brother, Jesse E. West, III of Startex; three sisters, Pamela W. Wheeler of Moore, Dianne Rogers and her husband Ronnie of Moore and Joy Galloway and her husband Johnny of Walnut Grove, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 22,2011 from 7-9 PM at Seawright Funeral Home.
A celebration of his life service will be held at Lyman United Methodist Church at 4:00PM on Thursday, June 23rd, with Rev. Brian Gilmer and Rev. Ron Towery officiating. Burial will be in the Perkins Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua West, Johnathan Hill, Bee Jay Wheeler, Danny Rogers, Barry Ward, Glenn Davis, Russell Surles and Gene Smith. Honorary Escorts will be the Startex and Duncan Fire Departments.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Lyman United Methodist Church Building Fund, 106 Groce Rd Lyman, SC 29365. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Roberta Ramsey, 785 Main St., Wellford, SC. An online guest register is available at www.seawright-funeralhome.com.
