Robert Alvin McKelvey, 92, of 8713 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC.
Mr. McKelvey was born in Spartanburg on October 22, 1931, a son of the late Ella Satterfield McKelvey and Ed McKelvey and was the widower of Helen Rachel Page McKelvey.
He retired as the co-owner of McKelvey's Beauty Shop and was a member of Lake Bowen Baptist Church. He was a former deacon and had served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Pruitt of Inman, Becky Melton (Roger) of Campobello, two brothers, Eugene McKelvey of Inman, Harold McKelvey of Inman, two sisters, Evelene Koon of Spartanburg, Ruby Taylor of North Carolina, four grandchildren, Jeff Melton (Erica), Andrea Green (Rocky), David Pruitt (Erin), Rhonda Pack (Sean), six great grandchildren, Rylan Green, Nick Green, Will Green, Henry Pruitt, Elliott Pruitt, and Anna Pruitt.
The family extends special thanks to Agape Hospice in Landrum and Forest City for the care given to them and Mr. McKelvey during this difficult journey.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 5th at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman with Rev. Brad Atkins and Rev. Mike Thompson officiating.
The family is at 800 Farmer Road and will receive friends 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Friday at Seawright Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Lake Bowen Baptist Church Cemetery in Inman.
Serving as pallbearers are Leland McKelvey, Tim Trout, Chris McKelvey, Heath Henderson, T.O. Owens, and Ray Bush.
The Senior Citizens of Lake Bowen Baptist Church will serve as honorary escorts.
