Spartanburg, SC--Mr. Richard Arlen Waldrop, 76, of 380 Dogwood Club Rd, Spartanburg passed away Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Waldrop was born in Spartanburg County on August 27, 1932, the son of the late Glen and Alma (Greene) Waldrop and was the husband of Rose Marie (Cochran) Waldrop.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 1 daughter: Tracie Elder and husband Donnie of Spartanburg, 2 sisters: Mavis Hammett and husband Dean of Boiling Springs, Sandra Wingo and husband Jerry of
Campobello, 1 brother: Kenneth "Pete" Waldrop and wife Joann of Inman, 3 grandchildren: Matthew Brown, Justin Addington, Kaitlyn Elder, sisters-in-Iaw- Doris Walkowicz, Margaret Barnette, Peggy Rush, brother-in-law: David Cochran and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother: Ronnie Waldrop.
He retired from Van Waters & Rogers, was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, and served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. Mr Waldrop was also a member of the VFW and Inman American Legion Post #45.

The family is at the home and will receive friends Monday 5:30 - 7:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at Seawright Funeral Chapel, Inman, SC, at 7:00 PM on Monday, May 4th, with Rev Jeff Cochran, Dr. Paul Moore, Herman Whitaker, Fred Pike and Dennis Pike officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Carolina, 110 Dillon Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
