Richard Lesley Gray, 76, of 5174 Hwy 357, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 after a long illness, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Richard was born in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, on January 4, 1941, a son of the late Thomas Richard Gray and Minnie Lesley Gray. He was the husband of Judy Carol West Gray and was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church in Wellford. He was a retired officer with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Department, a founding member of Inman Rescue 10, a member of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the Fraternal Order of Police. In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by four daughters, Trasi Gray King, and her husband, Chris, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; Kelli Gray Edwards, and her husband, John, of Jacksonville, Florida; Melissa Pellerin, and her husband, William "Dooley" Pellerin, of Greer, South Carolina; Melinda Brown, of Waynesboro, GA; two sons, Michael Miller and his wife, Belinda, of Inman, South carolina; Dewayne Miller of Landrum, South Carolina; eleven grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon and his wife, Tamara, Nathan and his wife, Brittany, Monica, Jonathan and his wife, Amber, Matthew, Lori Ann, Mike, Haley, Jayden and Alexis; six great grandchildren, Anna, Richard, Anthony, Micah, Kirra and River; a special niece, Sherry Collins and her husband, Donnie of Inman, South Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gray was predeceased by 3 brothers, Yateman, Riley and Charles Gray and a grandson, Taylor Miller.
Visitation will be held, Friday, April 28th from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at Seawright Funeral Chapel at 3:00 PM on Friday, April 28, 2017, conducted by Rev. Donnan Lawson and Sheriff Chuck Wright. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office Chaplain's Benevolence Fund, C/O Spartanburg County Foundation, 424 East Kennedy Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, or to the charity of one's choice.
The family is at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, at 321 Cornelson Drive in Greer, South Carolina.
