Richard Keith Dixon
June 9, 1957 – July 18, 2023
Richard Keith Dixon, 66, of Inman, South Carolina, passed away at Spartanburg Regional Hospital in South Carolina on July 18, 2023. Richard was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on June 9, 1957, to Betty and Felix Dixon. His grandparents were Horace and Marie Gregory and Troy and Essie Eubanks Dixon. He attended Chapman High School and Clemson University and was a dedicated Park Ranger at Camp Croft.
Richard was married to Karen Atkins Dixon in December 2022, and the two lived a life of love and laughter. Richard’s children, Alison, 34, and Daniel, 30, were his pride and joy — the loves of his life.
Richard is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Alison (Casey Parkhurst) and Daniel (Kelsey) Dixon; his siblings, Rhonda (Gene) Davidson and Randall (Vicki) Dixon; his aunt, Lurah (Nick) Pappas; nieces and nephews, Anna (Marc) Vinesett, Joshua Dixon, Langlee (Kaleb) Morrell; great niece, Cely Morrell; his stepchildren (Billy, Tyson, Morgan, Victoria, Katelyn, Tommy and Joe); his step grandchildren (Ryleigh, Jerimyah, Jacey and Eli) also many dear, longtime friends and his “farm family”. He was predeceased by his parents, Betty and Felix Dixon.
In addition to being a cherished son, father, brother and husband, Richard enjoyed countless hobbies — and mastered them all. He was an avid outdoorsman, guitarist, short story writer, gardener and sailing enthusiast. “Ricky” was also a founding member of the Redneck Performing Arts Association and Spittoono in Clemson, which raised money for The Esso Club beginning in 1981.
The family will receive friends at Seawright Funeral Home on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 1:00-2:00 PM. A memorial service will follow in the Seawright Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM with Dr. Tommy Turner and Rev. Andrew Mosteller officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Richard’s name to the Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund or the Spartanburg Humane Society.
“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.”
- Henry David Thoreau, Richard’s favorite quote
