Rebecca Elaine "Becky" Watson

Rebecca Elaine "Becky" Watson, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026. 

Born June 18, 1946, in South Carolina, Becky was the daughter of Louis Marcella Watson and Sara Kathleen Belcher Watson. She grew up in the upstate and graduated from Spartanburg High School with the class of 1964.

Through her life, Becky was devoted to her family, her faith, her friendships, and her community. She was a hardworking and independent woman who spent many years as a successful Avon representative. Through Avon, she formed lasting friendships and connections with many people throughout the community.

Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg was also an important part of Becky's life. She served as the church's Food Service Coordinator and helped with the planning and design of its food service facilities. She continued to enjoy the friendships, fellowship, and faith she found at Morningside, including her involvement with the Beautiful Hat Bible Study Group.

Above all, Becky loved her family. She was the devoted mother of two sons, Stephen Avakian (Jeannette) and Jason Avakian (Stephanie), and the proud grandmother of four granddaughters, Rebecca (Zach), Emma, Coraline, and Allison. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Samuel "Sam" Watson (Pam), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Rachel Marcell Watson Ivey.

Becky had a special love for the South Carolina mountains, particularly Table Rock, and for the family cabin. When asked what she loved most about the cabin, her answer was simple - everything. She loved being outdoors, surrounded by nature, and sometimes simply sitting at the cabin was all she needed to be happy.

Those who knew Becky knew her in many different ways - as a mother and grandmother, a sister, a friend, a woman of faith, the Avon lady, and a familiar face at Morningside. Each knew a different part of her story, but together those memories tell the story of a life filled with family, friendship, faith, hard work, and love.

Becky leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will carry her love, her stories, and the many moments they shared with her for generations to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, SC. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral chapel conducted by Rev. Jack Dodds and Mr. Gregg Thompson.
