RC Smith, 88, of 81 Blackstock Road, Inman, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his home. RC was born in Spartanburg, SC on December 4, 1929, a son of the late Clyde and Mary Foy Smith and was the widower of Hattie Faye Lee Smith. He had retired from Wilkins-McMillan Lumber Company after 42 years of service, served in the US Army during the Korean War, and served with Inman Fire Department for a number of years. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons; Danny Smith (Jane) of Boiling Springs, Ted Smith of Inman, 6 daughters; Kathy Overcash (Ralph) of Chesnee, Ann Wyatt (Ray) of Inman, Barbara Gilbert (Henry) of Boiling Springs, Linda Lawson, Diane Smith, Wanda Sprinkle, all of Inman, two sisters; Emily Ruth Jackson of Boiling Springs, Gladys Palmertree of Mount St. Helens, Washington, 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild. He was also predeceased by a sister, Lillie Mae Simpson. The family is at the home and will receive friends Saturday 10:00 until 11:00 am at Seawright Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at Seawright Funeral Chapel at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 20th, with Rev. Preston Edmonds and Rev. L.B. Wyatt officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 1211 Sugar Ridge Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
