Ray Bryson Skipper

 Ray Bryson Skipper, 79, of 2354 Hampton Road, Wellford, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. 

Ray was born in Polk County, NC on March 16, 1945, a son of the late Agnes Beatrice Ridings Skipper and Sidney Weldon Skipper and was the widower of Brenda Kay Melton Skipper after 57 years of marriage.

Ray was the owner of Ray Skipper Wallcovering and attended Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Inman. He was a member of Inman Masonic Lodge #201, Hejaz Shrine Hillbillies Clan, and was an avid street rod enthusiast.

Ray is survived by two sisters, Janet Hall of Tryon, NC, Carolyn Hall of Inman, two brothers, Larry Skipper of Rutherfordton, NC, Bobby Skipper of Chesnee, his special companion, Barbara Payne of Lyman, a special niece, Dena Sims, special great-great nephews, Karson Larabee, Paxton Walker, Dawson Plumley, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by a sister, Brenda Gail Harris and a brother, Drewey Skipper.


The family will be at his home in Wellford and will receive friends following the service Sunday at Seawright Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 23rd at Seawright Funeral Chapel in Inman with Rev. Scott Lewellen officiating.

Interment will be private in Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery in Inman. 


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605-4277 or Walnut Hill Baptist Church, 675 Walnut Hill Church Road, Campobello, SC 29322.
