Ray L. McCarter

Inman, SC---Mr. Ray Leander McCarter, 81, of 95 Blackstock Rd. passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at his home. Born in Campobello, SC on August 9, 1933, a son of the late Mrs. Leola O. (Hammett) and Mr. Ernest Gentry McCarter. He was first married to the late Mrs. Mary Lou (Bagwell) McCarter and was widowed by his second wife Mrs. Sara J. McCarter. Ray was the owner and operator of Ray McCarter Painting and was also the owner of the HiBridge Center and Self-Storage.

He is survived by two daughters, LuAnn McCarter Drake, of Inman, SC and Rhonda McCarter-Cullen and her husband Patrick of Inman, SC; one granddaughter, Lianna Suddreth of Atlanta, GA; two grandsons, Chaz Suddreth of Inman, SC and Jeremy Drake and his wife Amanda of Charlotte, NC; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry McCarter and his wife Nancy of Inman, SC and Harry James McCarter and his wife Nancy of Inman, SC; one sister, Mildred Wofford of Spartanburg, SC. Mr. McCarter was predeceased by three brothers, Wilburn, R.G. and Dean McCarter and one sister, Margie Burnette.

The family will receive friendsThursday, October 23, 2014 from 6-8PM at Seawright Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 2:00PM in the Seawright Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Alice Letmon officiating. A private interment will be held in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.
