Randall B. Raines

Randall Buford Raines, 82, passed away after a long illness on January 31, 2024. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Barney and Myrtle Bishop Raines, and he was preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Raines Brannon, and two brothers, Gerald and Dean.

The most important elements and passions of Randall’s life were his family and friends including his wife Lynn with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage, son Russell, brothers Ted and Edward, close friend Lee Blackwell, the church, and the beautiful land God created. Randall’s favorite pastime was the cultivation of agricultural crops including fruit trees and vegetables.

Mr. Raines was a lifetime member of Holston Creek Baptist Church where he served as Assistant Treasurer for approximately 40 years and Secretary of Adult Sunday School. He retired from a long career at Spring Industries and was a Vietnam War Veteran. Randall was summarized by a close friend of his wife, Ms. Frankie Rice, as follows: “He was a quiet humble man who made an indelible impression on me and will never be forgotten. He could walk with kings in a tuxedo and be just as stately in overalls on the farm.”

A private memorial will be held.
