Ralph Sanders
USAF (Ret.) 94, of Orlando FL, passed away December 24, 2009. He was born in Cowpens, SC and was a longtime resident of Inman.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1970, he worked for the Orange County (FL) School Board for many years. He was the son of the late John Irving Sanders and Elizabeth Arledge Sanders. Ralph was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Agnew and his second wife Marie Rogers Prince. He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings, Maude Phillips, Ruth Stearns, Helen Harris, Fred "Bill" Sanders and Woodrow Sanders. He was a longtime member of Inman First Baptist Church. He served in WWII, Korea and the Vietnam conflict. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of sharing candy at church and his "big heart".
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Carol Sanders of Redwood City, CA and Bill and Teresa Sanders of Orlando, FL, as well as step-children: Margaret Barnette, Doris Walkowicz, Peggy Rush, Rose Marie Waldrop and David Cochran and grandchildren Brianna Sanders, Julia Sanders, Sherry Sanders and Sonoma Sanders.
Ralph was a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge.
Family will receive relatives and friends from 4-6PM on Sunday January 3 at the Orlando Chapel of Baldwin-Fairchild in Orlando, FL.
Funeral services will be at 10AM on Monday, January 4 at the Orlando Chapel of Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home at 301NE Ivanhoe Blvd in Orlando with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund at the Inman First Baptist Church, 14 N Howard Street, Inman SC 29349 864-472-9069. A memorial service is also being planned for mid-January to be held at the Inman First Baptist Church.
