Inman, SC---Ralph Thomas Barnwell, 80, of 832 White Magnolia Drive, died at his home on Monday, May 16, 2011. He was the husband of Sarah Geneal Barnwell. A native of Spartanburg County he was the son of the late Burton Barnwell and Myrtle Burns Barnwell. He and his brother Paul were owners of Barnwell Brothers Builders Inc. He was a US Navy Veteran having served on the USS Thompson during the Korean War and was a member of Inman First Baptist Church were he had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years and also in nursing homes for 38 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Burnice Green (George) of Inman, brother, Paul Barnwell (Vonda) of Inman. He was predeceased by a son Terry Barnwell and a brother, Robert Barnell. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Inman First Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Paul Moore and Rev. Skip Snyder. Serving as pallbearers will be James Phillips, Ralph Brendle, Sam Raney, Randy Craig, Johnny Morrow and Tom Beauchamp. Honorary escorts will be the Ralph Barnwell Sunday School Class. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held immediately following the service in the church atrium. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Inman First Baptist Church Building Fund, 14 N. Howard St. Inman, SC 29349. The family is at their respective homes.
