Pearl Lee Jackson Lackey

Pearl Lee Jackson Lackey, 93, of Arcadia died Friday November 25, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born November 13, 1918 in Spartanburg, SC she was the daughter of the late Will and Bertha Satterfield McKelvey.
Survivors include her husband, John Lackey; a daughter, Ann Willard; a sister, Rachel Holder and husband William; four brothers, Howard McKelvey and wife Betty, Cletus McKelvey and wife Mary, Clarence McKelvey, and Bill McKelvey. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews along with children of broken homes that she took in and helped raise.
She was predeceased by a sister, Audrey Spearman and two brothers, Conley and James T. McKelvey. She was also predeceased by her first husband, Melvin Dean Jackson.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Arcadia where she taught Sunday school up until her 93rd birthday. Mrs. Lackey attended school in District two and worked at Spartanburg General Hospital and Raycord before becoming the manager and owner of Rosewood Mobile Home Park.
Mrs. Lackey was also a member of The Gospel Trio, who sang at numerous church functions as well as on television and radio from the 1960's through the 1980's. She was also very active in all aspects of church throughout her life serving in various leadership roles at area churches including the First Church of the Nazarene.
A kindred Christian soul, Pearl often times opened her home to children who were under-privileged and in need of guidance. Even though her resources were limited, her faith in God allowed her to persevere and provide these children with a better chance at life. She had a heart of gold and was a wonderful wife, sister, aunt, and disciple of Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be 1:00 until 2:00pm Monday, November 28, 2011 at Seawright's Funeral Home in Inman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 on Monday November, 28 2011 at Seawright's Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Joey Burnett. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of her sister, Rachel Holder at 321 Caston Drive in Boiling Springs.
