Paul "Bunyan" Thompson, 82, of 128 School Drive, Fairforest, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, February 24, 2018 at his residence. Paul was born in Dothan, Alabama on February 16, 1936, a son of the late Lottabelle Best Thompson and Columbus C. Thompson. He was the widower of Sarah Louise Webb Thompson. Mr. Thompson retired from Spartanburg Steel, was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church, Fairforest Ruritan Club, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by two sons; Danny Thompson (Tammy) of Chesnee, Chris Thompson (Jacqui) of Chesnee, two daughters; Marsha Scott of Spartanburg, Stacy Thompson of Fairforest, three brothers; Silas Thompson (Gerry) of Dothan, AL, Gerald Thompson (Mary) of Elberton, GA, Morris Thompson of Ashford, AL, a sister; Patricia Carroll (Robert) of Ashford, AL, eleven grandchildren; Heather Shook (Chris), Traci Thompson, Bradley Scott, Luke Bogan, Dylan Thompson (Melanie), Hannah Bogan, Tara Elston, Daniel Thompson, Evan Thompson, Blaine and Brenden Thompson, and four great grandchildren; Noah, Jonah, and Micah Shook, and Haddie Bogan and two sister-in-laws, Maxine Thompson and Betty Thompson both of Dothan, AL. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a grandson; Christopher Evan Thompson, two brothers, Cecil and Norris Thompson, three sisters; Grace Silcox, Kate Dyess, and Ina Henning. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Wednesday 10:00 until 11:00 am at Fairforest Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at Fairforest Baptist Church at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 28th, with Dr. Jimmy Hilton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
