Lt. Col. Paul E. Grubb

Lt. Col. Paul E. Grubb (retired) passed into eternal rest Friday, February 25, 2011, at Hospice House in Greenwood, SC. Prior to December 2010 when he moved to Assisted Living at Wesley Commons in Greenwood, he had lived in Inman, SC, since his retirement.

Mr. Grubb was the son of Mr. Homer and Mrs. Mary Homan Grubb.
He was born and reared in State College, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of Penn State University. His agriculture degree served him well in his chosen occupation in seed and feed organizations. With every merger of companies, he moved to a higher position, retiring in 1980 from Agway as vice-president with distribution responsibilities over the entire Northeast.

Col. Grubb served n active duty with the Army during World War II and again during the Korean War, continuing in the Army Reserve Corps as a teacher for new enlisted soldiers. While stationed at Camp Croft, Spartanburg, SC, during War II, he met, fell in love with, and married Miss Emily Rash. They celebrated their sixtieth anniversary just before her death in 2003.

Hobbies in retirement included hunting, fishing, serious gardening, and raising dwarf apple trees. He delighted in sharing the fruits of all of these hobbies with friends and neighbors. He was a member of Inman United Methodist Church where he served as chairperson of older adult ministries. Related to that assignment was the significant contributions he made to the ecumenical Senior Adult group, which often reached 100 in attendance at monthly meetings at Inman United Methodist Church.
He coined their motto: Good Food, Good Friends, and the Best in Entertainment.

The funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday. March 2, 2011, in the Chapel at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, SC, under the direction of the Reverend Donnan Lawson and Reverend James L. Correll. Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 AM prior to the service and interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg. Memorials may be sent to Inman United Methodist Church, 27 Bishop Street, Inman, SC 29349; Pine Hall Lutheran Church, 1760 W. College Ave. State College, PA 16801; Hospice House, 408 West Alexander Street, Greenwood, SC 29649, or another charitable organization of your choice.
