Patricia "Jane" Clanton

Patricia “Jane” Akins Clanton, 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Inman, South Carolina, on October 21, 2025, with her loving husband of 55 years, Frank Clanton, by her side.

Born on August 12, 1951, in Statesboro, Georgia, Jane was the daughter of the late Leo D. Akins and Esther Bryan Akins. She is survived by her loving sisters: Denise Hair (Terry) of Aiken, SC; Marian Bowden of Easley, SC; and Connie Whitacre (Doug) of Lakeville, MN.

A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jane is also survived by her daughters, Karen Clanton (Erin) of Tampa, FL, and Kathy Clanton of Inman, SC; her grandsons, James (Tracey) and Jeremy Clanton; and her great-granddaughter, Lainie Jane Clanton, all of Inman, SC. She leaves behind a large extended family who loved her dearly.

Jane dedicated more than 45 years to her career as a legal assistant, finishing her professional journey with the firm of Ford Harrison in Spartanburg, where she found both purpose and lifelong friendships.

A passionate sports fan, Jane loved cheering for the Atlanta Braves, Georgia Bulldogs, and Boston Celtics, and never missed a moment of March Madness. One of her greatest joys was spending summer vacations with her family at St. Augustine Beach, creating lasting memories in the place she loved most.

Jane will be remembered for her strength, quick wit, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory forever cherished.
