Otha Cranford Smith, 94, passed away in Columbus, North Carolina on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
Born in Bear Creek, North Carolina on May 3, 1930, he was a son of the late Otha Cranford Smith and Polly Mozelle (White) Peck.
He was first married to the late Janet Dickerson Smith and was later widowed by Betty Smith Crews. He was also predeceased by one daughter, Lori Leslie and one brother, Kenneth Smith.
Mr. Smith served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, worked as a truck driver for Mclean Trucking for more than 30 years and was a member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church in Kernsville, North Carolina.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Kercher and her husband Terry and Janet Lawson and her husband Ralph; one son, Dennis Smith and his wife Theresa; one stepdaughter, Debbie Crews; one stepson, Craig Crews and his wife Trish; one sister, Myra Lawrence; one brother, Gregg Peck and his wife Brenda along with eight grandchildren, Tae Burns and husband Ashley, Luke Smith, Jacob Smith and wife Kimberly, Bailey Israel and her husband Jarrett, Julia Smith, Trey Lawson, Katye Sirls and husband Christian and Bess Lawson and six great grandchildren, Jackson, Benjamin, Ryan, Raymond, Hadley and Nixon.
A Celebration of his life service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Holly Springs Baptist Church at 11:00AM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mobile Meals, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29304.
