Nancy Jane Kirby Gowan, 88, of Gowan Rd in Inman, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum.
Mrs. Gowan was born in Greenville on September 9, 1934, a daughter of the late Mary Viola Barnett Kirby and George Washington Kirby. She was the widow of Maxie Eugene Gowan. She retired as a teacher's assistant for 21 years at Charles Lea Center and was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Landrum.
Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Gowan of Inman, Rita Gowan Bruce and her husband, Mike, of Inman, two brothers, Robert Kirby of Campobello, Wayne Kirby of Inman, two sisters, Lois Harmon of Campobello, Joyce Willis of Campobello, two granddaughters, Amy Bruce Arendt and her husband, Scott, Sarah Bruce Hyder and her husband, Matthew, and three great grandchildren, Nora Arendt, Mila Hyder, and Isabella Hyder. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by two sisters, Lucretia Donnahoo and Frances Robinson.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 19th at Seawright Funeral Chapel in Inman with Dr. Tommy Turner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman.
