Myra O'Shields Miller

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4

Myra O’Shields Miller, 68, of Inman, South Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 2, 2026, at her home. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Charles Clifford O’Shields and Amy Mathis O’Shields.

Throughout her life, Myra touched many people through her work, service, and love of music. In her early adult years, she worked at Bi-Lo and served as a preschool teacher at Honey Tree. She later dedicated time as a Reserve Officer with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Department before working at Bailes-Collins.

A gifted musician, Myra was known for her beautiful singing voice and piano talent. As a teenager, she loved playing piano at Holston Creek Baptist Church, where her faith and love of music flourished. In her adult years, she continued pursuing her passion for music, performing throughout the Upstate during the 1980s and early 1990s. She was a member of the band The Moon Lighters, which became a familiar favorite at community events, including the street dances held during Inman’s Harvest Day Festival.

Above all, Myra treasured her family. She found her greatest joy in gathering around the table, sharing stories, laughter, and special moments with those she loved. Her kind spirit, warm heart, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always.

She leaves behind a legacy of love in her beloved son, Jared Miller (Christy), and her cherished grandson, Elliot Miller, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her brother, Douglas O’Shields (Nell), and her niece, Melody Edwards (Tommy), along with many extended family members and friends who will lovingly remember her.

A Homegoing Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, South Carolina. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 pm.

The family welcomes your prayers, love, and cherished memories as they celebrate Myra’s life and the many blessings she shared with others. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity or organization of your choice in honor of Myra’s memory.
