Miriam Dotson Hendrix, a beloved matriarch, devoted friend, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC. She was born on August 10, 1939, in Spartanburg, SC, to Clinnie and Leola Dotson. Miriam lived a full and vibrant life, reaching the age of 85.
Miriam was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Ray Hendrix, with whom she shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. She was also preceded by her brothers, Mack Dotson, Chubb Dotson and Herman Dotson and her sisters, Vicky Dotson and Brenda Calvert (She was survived by one surviving brother-in-law Everett Calvert). These losses were felt deeply, but Miriam's spirit remained unyielding, and her love for her family and friends continued to shine through the years.
Miriam is survived by her three loving sons, Lane (Kim) Hendrix, Michael (Carolyn) Hendrix, and Ritch(Crystal) Hendrix. Her family grew to include adored grandchildren: Brandon (Twanna) Hendrix, Brittany Hendrix, Justin Hendrix, Dalton Hendrix, Jarrett Hendrix, and Kristen Hendrix. Miriam was also blessed with five precious great-grandchildren: Elijah Hendrix, Rylan Hendrix, Carson Hendrix, Gracelyn Hendrix, and Madelyn Hendrix, who brought her endless joy and pride.
A devoted member of the Inman Church since 1978, Miriam was known for her unwavering faith and commitment to God. Her compassion and kindness radiated through her actions, earning her the affection and respect of all who knew her. She was not only a devoted wife and nurturing mother but also an adoring “Mawmaw,” whose warmth and love inspired everyone around her.
Miriam’s life was characterized by her spirit of compassion, her ability to uplift those in need, and her unshakeable love for her family. The legacy she leaves behind is one of profound love, unwavering faith, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A funeral service to honor Miriam’s life will be held on Jaunary 15, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Inman Church. The family will receive friends from 6pm until 7pm before the service. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the profound impact she had on all of our lives.
